Our digital marketing agency loves Philly as much as you do! So as a break from business and Internet marketing-related things, here are some great things to do this weekend in Philadelphia in order to celebrate Memorial Day:
Starting at 6 p.m., the Race Street Pier at North Columbus Boulevard & Race Street will have plenty of picnic blankets, lawn games, and food baskets for all ages. There will even be free food and drinks!
If you’re in the mood for some music, head to The Fire at 412 W Girard Ave for a wide variety of music genres. The festival kicks off Friday at 9 p.m. and goes through Sunday with outdoor and indoor performances and a slew of art vendors.
Want to learn to tango this Memorial Day? Instructors, DJs, and performers from all over the country will gather for this 4th annual festival from 7 p.m. Friday through noon on Monday. Head to the Ruba Club at 416 Green Street or the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School at 2030 Frankford Ave for workshops and social dances.
At 6 p.m. join the Philadelphia Phoenixes (the city’s professional ultimate team) for a big barbecue complete with live music and an indoor tailgate. Just head to A.A. Garthwaite Stadium at the corner of 11th & Harry Street.
Love wine? Spend your Saturday evening on a boat for a two-hour excursion from Pinot Boutique and Patriot Harbor Lines. You’ll enjoy wines from around the world while sailing the Delaware River. Cruises leave at 7 p.m. from behind the Hyatt Regency at 201 South Columbus Boulevard.
About 30 miles outside of Philly, at Longwood Gardens, you’ll find the attraction’s annual fireworks celebration, complete with music theme. The event, titled “Big Band & Broadway” kicks off at 9:30 p.m. at 1001 Longwood Road in Kennett Square.
If you love pork and beer, head to the Drury Beer Garden behind Opa in Midtown Village at 3 p.m. You’ll find 1,000 pounds of heritage pork, a spit-roasted whole lamb, and lots of craft beer. Five of the best chefs in Philadelphia will be competing for the King of the Pigs crown.
The 10th annual Teal Ribbon 5k takes place at 7 a.m. at 4231 Avenue of the Republic. Run/walk through Fairmount Park with other participants who are looking to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer. You can join a team or run solo.
If you love electronic music, head to the Jam on the River festival at 9 p.m. You’ll find artists like Lotus, Conspirator, Zoogma, Papadosio, and more while enjoying great views of the waterfront at Penn’s Landing.
If dueling pianos and great bar specials are your thing, head to Howl at the Moon’s summer kick-off party. Doors open at 7 p.m. at 258 South 15th Street where you’ll find beer and liquor specials along with lively music.
