When booking your hotel room, consider where your meetings will be in relation to your hotel room. You may find a cheaper hotel room further away, but if it takes you 45 minutes to get there, it may not be worth it.

In addition, if your bag gets lost or stolen, you’ll be without your necessities (which you really don’t want to go through on a business trip). Instead, pack lightly and take a carry-on.

If you frequently travel for business, joining an airline rewards program can come in handy. Choose one with a wide array of destinations from your area and stick to it. Before you know it, you’ll have racked up enough points for a free round-trip flight or a free upgrade to first class.
While this may seem like a no-brainer, many people confuse nonstop flights and direct flights. If you have the option, choose a nonstop flight and you won’t have any layovers to deal with. Direct flights can still have layovers, however, you’ll stay on the plane instead of switching to another one.
If you travel a lot, it’s much easier to keep a packed bag handy and add to it than it is to start packing from scratch. It sounds simple, but being nice to people can be the difference between an average business trip and an upgraded business trip. If your airline or hotel is voluntarily upgrading customers or handing out extras, you’ll have a better chance of snagging one if you were nice to someone involved.
