Influencing Conversions Through Social Media

Money IssuesA social media strategy can be a great way for businesses to contact many different potential clients. Social media has all of the makings of one of the greatest marketing tactics because it is quick, easy and it’s free. A lot of businesses are including a social media strategy to promote their branding efforts because they are learning about the benefits. Since it is a newer form of advertising, smarter businesses are adding social marketing efforts sooner rather than later, because they don’t want to be left behind.

The Right Way to Do Social Media

While many businesses are heading towards social media campaigns, a lot of them are setting their campaigns in motion, but aren’t using them to their fullest potential. Having business accounts on popular social media forums isn’t enough. You need to make sure the forum is selling your business to potential customers that stumble upon your accounts or learn about your business through a friend in their social network. Helping these customers find their way to your business’ website from your social media account is called a “conversion,” which is necessary to make these advertising efforts successful.

Getting your customers to convert is as simple as providing them with a link that will draw them to an area of your business’ website that will encourage them to buy something, submit a contact form, or contact you directly. The first step is to identify what area of your site is most likely going to help your visitors convert. This could be anything from a promotions page to a product listing page, or even a page that features one of your strongest sales pitches. The best way to find this out is to implement an analytics program to your site that can trace each visitor’s activity.

Going Out-of-the-Box

Next, link that page to your social media page. This sounds a lot easier than it actually is. When linking these pages together, you are going to want to avoid just pasting a link in that says “Click Here.” This straightforward approach won’t be as effective as an “out-of-the-box” idea for a link because when you break away from standard linking, you are appealing to your potential prospect’s curiosity. Teach them something new about your products or services, then include a link that says “To Learn More, Click Here.” Include links to your product descriptions on your site from images that you have included on your social media accounts. Do whatever you can to inspire them to learn more about your business.

Appealing to their frugality is also an effective way of luring them back to your site. Add a link to your site that leads them to a specified page that can get them discounted pricing. Use this as a reward for finding your business through your social media campaign. This discount will pay off; since the user found your business through their social media accounts, they will be more inclined to share your business’ name with other people in their social networks.

Be Patient

Success with your social media strategy isn’t going to just happen for your business overnight. It takes work, just like any other type of marketing effort. Carefully thinking about what is going to make your customers convert is a necessary step to making sure that your social media campaign is a success. The more time you put into coming up with creative ideas that will lure your social media visitors back to your site, the more results you can expect to see.
