When it comes to search engine optimization, link building plays a big part in gaining exposure for your company. When you build links to your website, you essentially leave a trail for web users to find you; the more trails you leave, the more likely someone will follow one. In a world of search engines, it’s not enough to just build a couple links and hope for the best. You need to create a link-building strategy that will keep your company visible.
When someone conducts a search, that search engine scans various websites and quickly decides which order to rank them in. They take into account not only your website’s content, but your links as well, so the more links you build, the better chance you have of ranking higher. It’s not enough just to build links, however – they have to be trustworthy links. For example: a link on a page that relates to the link’s topic is considered better than a link on a page that has nothing to do with the link’s topic.
Where to Start
If you want people to link to your website, you’re going to have to have content on your website that’s worth linking to, so your best bet is to start off by writing some great content. This is where a good SEO content writer is key (like the ones we have). Once you have your good content, get in touch with another website that relates to it and see if they’ll link to your content. You can also write guest blogs on other websites that will not only build you links, but will establish more credibility for your company.
One thing that you want to stay away from is paying for links. Search engines like Google believe paid links to be against their “rules” and your link building will be useless if they find out what you’re up to.
